If you need evidence, check out IGN's review of Wii Sports, this generation's defining killer app.ĭepends. I haven't play Midway's "Game Party," Namco's "DecaSports," or Sonic's "mario and sonic at the Olympic games." I'm considering picking up EA's "Boom Blox." I also want to try EA's "Ninja Reflex." I'd appreciate GAFers opinions on how the games hold up in party situations.Īlso, YOU CANNOT TRUST GAME REVIEWERS ON PARTY GAMES.

Mario Party - Same formula, still works pretty well. New players get tired of losing, and then you'll want to do something else. a lot." Can be a drag in party situations where someone has played the old games too much. to the point where i said, 'I've played this game before. Smash brothers - Feels way too much like Gamecube game for my tastes. i would recommend it higher but it lacks the ability for simultaneous play. I'd say it lacks replayability but is an AWESOME rental.Ĭarnival Games - Gets a lot of hate around here. Once one player knows the tricks, it gets harder for newbies to compete. It's best to play when everybody is playing for the first time. Wario Ware - This game can be absolutely hilarious to play in a group. Sucks you have to unlock some of the later games. you just have to create a guest character and then have people try skiing, jumping, etc. Wii Fit - This can actually be a pretty cool party game. I'm a fan of target shoot and air hockey. Wii Play - This game can actually be pretty fun, especially Tanks. So sad that they give so little love to battle mode implementation. Keep an eye out for Wii Beach Sports (Wii Sports 2) in the spring. People usually find it funny to watch people play it but are intimidated by the controls etc. Guitar Hero I found to be rather lacking in that regard either. Brawl and Super Mario Strikers aren't all that great for this purpose imo, too much shit going on for casuals to follow and get some fun out of it. The settings usually mean these are normally not very female-friendly though. It's a bit lacking in the content department but that's not a concern for having some fun with friends every once in a while.ĭepending on the people lightgun shooters can also be a lot of fun. It's only for two people at the same time but can be played in teams. Pretty much everyone will pick up the controls if it's set to automatic (sliding).īomberman is an evergreen, you can go for either WiiWare or VC with that.īig Brain Academy is also a great multiplayer game. Mario Kart Wii is good as well, even my girlfriend likes to play that a lot. In my experience it takes them a couple of tries. Most "real" casuals have a problem with the micros that involve aiming at the sensor bar though. Wario Ware Smooth Moves is always good for a laugh (be sure to play the dancing boss stage).
